Morse (Leopold) is born in Wachenheim, Germany.

Leopold Morse emigrates to New Hampshire in 1849, moves to Boston soon after, and finds work in a clothing store at 131 – 137 Washington Street, which he soon purchases. Morse becomes a successful merchant, lives at 191 Brookline Street, then at 85 Beacon Street, then builds a new home at 203 Commonwealth Avenue in 1885.* He serves in the U.S. House of Representatives (1877-85, 1887-89), and dies at a meeting of the Merchants’ Club at the Hotel Vendome on December 15, 1892. Morse is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
